Similar to the Indian and Mayan method, a womb rub is a soothing warming oil that is applied to the abdomen to relax abdominal muscles and soothe uterine cramping given 3-5 days after birth. The belly is gently massaged with warm oils infused with essential oils . Rubbing the abdominal area in an effort towards healing the womb, reducing pain, helps the womb involute to pre pregnancy size. Use of hot stones with this oil treatment is divine!
HOT HERBAL COMPRESS RUB
A herbal compress womb rub is a great healing tool to use after you have a baby. It is another technique used in Thailand and Malaysia to bring warmth and comfort to a mama’s abdomen. I typically make my stone bundles with a mixture of these herbs: black pepper, cumin, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg turmeric, and anise. These particular herbs are traditionally used and known to stimulate circulation and aid in digestion.

Bringing heat to the abdominal area after having a baby promotes shrinking of the womb, expels trapped air, helps with digestion and constipation, and lastly breaks up residual blood clots allowing for the lochia (postpartum bleeding) to flow more easily speeding the healing process.
This treatment is a great add on to a Benkung Belly Bind Wrapping.
